This is a sturdy bunk bed design that should last  for several youth generations. Unlike other styles where boards are just nailed or screwed to the stiles, this bed sandwiches the rails between two stile boards with filler strips and blocks in between the rails. This gives un-relenting strength to the end pieces. I built a simple jig for clamping and aligning the parts prior to shooting 2 1/2 inch finish nails into the "sandwich". In the center photo, the upper removable guard rail has been removed.

This bed was constructed of poplar and painted with a white latex enamel paint. Plans will be available from the order page. Included with the plans will be a detailed construction / assembly instructions.
